Paola High School offers
three courses in
Cabinetmaking.
Wood 1
Introduces students
to the fundamentals of
woodworking. Students learn
basic design, estimation,
layout, cutting, assembly,
sanding, and finishing of
wood products. They
construct three assigned
projects and have time to
build projects of their
choosing. The course also
introduces students to the
basics of home construction
and concludes with students
building a small shed.
Cabinetmaking 1
Students study the
design and function of
modern kitchen, bath and
specialty cabinets. They
construct cabinets using
traditional woodworking
methods and machines. This
class has the ability to
construct cabinets for
individuals on cost plus
basis. The students will
design, calculate costs, and
build cabinets for outside
clients.
Cabinetmaking 2
(to be
offered in 2009/2010 school
year)
Students will use
the latest in cabinetmaking
equipment and techniques.
They will learn how to
operate a CNC router to cut
cabinet parts. This class
will operate similar to a
professional cabinet shop.
We will bid jobs and build
cabinets for outside
