About Paola Middle School
Paola Middle School offers diverse learning opportunities for sixth, seventh and eighth grade students. The school day is comprised of seven class periods. Sixth grade is heterogeneously divided into four teams with two teachers teaching the core subject areas of math, communications, social studies and science. Seventh and eighth grade students are heterogeneously divided into two teams with four core subject area teachers. Teachers make use of team teaching activities at all grade levels. Eighth grade teachers make use of block scheduling opportunities, as well. Team teachers meet daily to coordinate and evaluate curriculum. They also attend to students’ academic and social needs during this time. In addition to the core classes, students are assigned to related arts classes that include computer keyboarding, general music, synergistic laboratory, art and physical education. Students may also elect to take band and/or choir.
