Paola District Nutrition Employee, Chris Deatsch Wins National Recognition
| As the vegetable department head, Chris Deatsch was instrumental in the creation of the Garden Bar, a design-your-own salad bar where students can choose from a variety of fresh vegetables, kidney beans, beets, peas as well as fresh and canned fruit. Deatsch has fostered a happy and comfortable environment for students and helped make the kitchen a pleasant place for her colleagues, according to school administrators. She is always looking for ideas to improve how procedures are managed, attending the School Nutrition Association Annual Conference for the past 7 years, and also attending training sessions and equipment demonstrations when available. A true team player, Chris takes great pride in her work, loves the students, volunteers to work special events, and is always willing to lend a helping hand. |
