Kansas Career Navigator
This FREE web site is intended to offer all Kansans access to public state regional information to aid in the selection of education and training programs, access to workforce training providers and labor market information.  The web site is a collaborative project between KS Department of Education, KS Department of Labor, KS Department of Commerce and KS Board of Regents, in an attempt to house all related public data in one online location.

The site is currently in Phase I, which focuses on careers, outlook, county information and postsecondary/training information.  Current career lists highlight the top 10 occupations in each area that meet high wage/high demand criteria set by the Department of Labor.  Phase II is already in the works, which will include secondary information, such as high schools, pathways available, courses offered, programs of study, articulation agreements and connection to careers and postsecondary/training programs.  The committee hopes to have Phase II and expanded career lists operational before the end of the year.

Please feel free look around the site.  http://kscareernav.gov/

Apprenticeships

Apprenticeships in Kansas & Missouri: What You Need to Know

Faith Technologies of Lenexa, KS, has apprentice opportunities in the Electrical area. Four year program during which students work and earn money as an apprentice as well as Journeyman's license. See link for more information.

Missouri Apprenticeships
Once you are hired at a company that has established a Registered Apprenticeship Program you will be able to earn wages while you learn a skilled profession in a specific field, such as construction, health care, culinary arts, and many more. An Apprenticeship combines classroom studies with on-the-job training supervised by a mentor skilled in the profession. Much like a college education, it takes several years to become fully trained in the occupation you choose. Unlike college, as an apprentice you’ll earn while you learn. At first, you’ll make less money than skilled workers, but as your skills progress, you’ll receive regular raises. Once you have mastered the craft, you will receive the same wages as a professional.
