Student Assistance Programs
At Paola Middle School, the counselor is available to all students. The counselor's job is to assist students with any problems related to school, whether it is in the area of academics or social adjustments. The counselor requests that parents let him know of any dramatic changes at home or school that may affect the student. Examples would be the death of a family member or pet, divorce or separation, or problems with a sibling or other classmates. Please encourage your child to talk to the counselor when needed.

Groups are available for a wide variety of reasons. These are organized through the counselor's office. Referrals are obtained from students themselves, parents, staff, and administrators.
The TeamMates Program connects volunteers from the community with students in our school. Students are recommended by parents, teachers, or the student themselves to be paired with a mentor. The TeamMates come to our building each week to serve as mentors, academic coaches, and buddies.
